'Mean Girl': Tenafly Native Lea Michele Faces Rude Awakening Following Racism Allegations

Tenafly native and former "Glee" star Lea Michele has issued an apology after several of her former cast-mates accused her of racism and "mean girl" behavior on set, reports say.

“We can all grow and change and I have definitely used these past several months to reflect on my own shortcomings,” Michele wrote.

Michele, who already lost a major endorsement deal from HelloFresh, now wants to learn from her behavior and “handle things responsibly,” a friend told Page Six.

“Remember when you made my first television gig a living hell?!?! Cause I’ll never forget,” Michele’s former Glee co-star Samantha Ware said in response to her tweet last month supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

In the following days, several other of Michele’s other former colleagues came forward, bolstering Ware's accusation.

Elizabeth Aldrich, who played Michele’s understudy for a 1998 Broadway show "Ragtime," said she "used to cry every night from the mean and manipulative things [Michele] would do" at the age of 12.

Michele issued a public apology in response to the onslaught of accusations. Many critics said the apology "fell short."

"When I tweeted the other day, it was meant to be a show of support for our friends and neighbors and communities of color during this really difficult time," Michele wrote in an Instagram post, "but the responses I received to what I posted have made me also focus specifically on how my own behavior towards fellow cast members was perceived by them,"

The actress, now seven months pregnant, went on to apologize for her behavior as well as “any pain” she had caused.

“We can all grow and change and I have definitely used these past several months to reflect on my own shortcomings,” she wrote.
